Over the past several months, our resident carpenter/producer Kook Lawry, has been directing the construction and renovation project at Handsome Brothers. In the style of the Big Dig (open and operating during construction), on a typical day Kook has swung the hammer in the a.m. and played guitar or recorded a vocal in the p.m. For those who haven’t been here in a while, you will be truly amazed at the transformation. The major work is completed and we have finally reached the “no more dust” stage. The place looks fantastic. We’ll post photos as each area is finished off. The kitchen area is very cool. It’s a 50’s contemporary bar style counter with stools. It features VCR, cable and Sony Playstation. A good spot to make phone calls or hold an informal meeting or read the paper and veg out over a sandwich.
Herb’s studio is pretty much finished. All his new equipment is installed, a deluxe 24 bit Pro Tools set-up, and he has completed the wall treatment and decorating. He will offer video lay back, mix-to-pix, digital editing, sound design, voice-over recording and audio for new media. Herb is also an accomplished keyboardist and programmer who frequently contributes to music projects. He uses his keen music instincts whenever called upon to rework or edit the music on a soundtrack.
Just outside Herb’s studio, we have built Studio D for Mike, a less extensive Pro Tools station that will be used for basic editing, sound file conversions and digital pre-production. He also uses it as a composing station.
